Jerusalem's God’s work, our hands project

As Sunday School starts up in September, Jerusalem Church members participate in God's Work, Our Hands Sunday. This special Sunday is sponsored by the Lutheran organization called the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America or ELCA. The idea is to start our Sunday School year with a service project that helps our community and our world. The social ministry committee organizes the service project. In 2017, our members collected personal care items for Gaudenzia Inc, a substance abuse treatment center for women and children. In 2018, our service project was called, “Not Your Usual Yard Sale,” where unwanted household items and clothing collected were given away to people in our community who needed them everything was free. In 2019, Jerusalem’s Little Free Pantry was erected. The idea of the Little Free Pantry comes from the Bible where welcoming the stranger and feeding the hungry are common themes. The funds to get our service projects started were from a Thrivent Action Team. Thank you to Thrivent, the social ministry committee, and members of Jerusalem for making our service projects successful!
